Public Information Appointees

Public Information Officers are appointed by and report to the Public Information Coordinator (PIC).
Responsibilities include reporting activities regularly to the PIC. If they are representing an ARES/RACES unit, they report to the EC and work with guidance from the PIC.

ARES/RACES units are currently appointing PIO’s because of the results of the publicity we received during the 2007 flood and storm and the implementation of the OADN (Oregon ARES Digital Network) statewide. If any ARES/RACES unit does not have a PIO, the responsibility will default to the EC.

If the PIO is an ARRL member, they may receive an ARRL appointment for this position but we are not currently requiring that for the ARES/RACES PIO’s.

The appointment description for public information officers is available at www.arrl.org/FandES/field
/org/pio.html.

They are listed with their city and county or club.
