OR Section ARES is broken into 6 Districts with each District has 5-7 counties. The Section Emergency Coordinator (SEC) works for the Section Manager (SM). The District Emergency Coordinators (DEC) work for the SEC. The Emergency Coordinators (EC) work at the county level and answer to the DEC & SEC. The ECs work with the county emergency manager (EM) to ensure that emergency communications are available in a time of need. The District map is depicted on the upper left.

The primary role of the SEC, ASEC’s, and DEC’s is to ensure that the local EC’s have the resources and support they need. They work as a team to accomplish this.  In the near future, there will be regular executive team meetings and all leadership meetings using Zoom.  The SEC also works with the Oregon Emergency Management Communications Officer to coordinate activities as needed.

Other groups, such as AUXCOM, ACES, RACES, ACS, and others, are invited to participate in ARES activities whenever they wish to.  Counties from neighboring states that may have cross-border communication needs are also invited to participate.
