I would especially welcome announcements about tech and upgrade license classes your club is offering, since questions about those come up regularly and people may be willing to commute a distance to participate.

Tips from the Affiliated Club Coordinator

When club officers change, many times tasks fall through the cracks.  I recommend that current officers create a list of regular tasks with responsibility assigned and provide that list to all officers to avoid having that happen.  The following are some regular tasks to complete.

  1. Update your ARRL affiliated club listing annually.  I recommend you do this each year after officer elections.
  2. If your club has special service club status, maintaining this requires regular contact with the affiliated club coordinator and continuing to achieve the purposes of this club status.  You need to renew this status every two years.  The affiliated club coordinator will make an effort to attend any special events your club has.
  3. If you have 501c3 status and have filed as a corporation with the state of Oregon, you will have an annual filing with the Oregon Department of Justice, an annual filing with the Oregon Corporations Division, and the IRS 990 form to complete annually.

The in-person meetings have been suspended so anyone interested will need to check the website w7bu.club for the most current information.

High Desert Amateur Radio Group

Some members of the group recently went to their primary hub repeater system on Pine Mountain, about 30 miles SE of Bend, and installed a wind generator to backup the charging system.  The plan is to get the systems off grid to better support the Region 7 Hospital Group.
