ARRG’s new DMR repeater

The Amateur Radio Relay Group (ARRG) and I84 Group collaborated on the installation of a

new open DMR Repeater on South Saddle Mountain near Forest Grove, Oregon last

week. The repeater will operate under the call sign K7RPT on the UHF frequency of

440.8125 MHz with a Color Code of 1.

The repeater, microwave and site upgrades took two days of hard work to complete

during hot weather.

This wide-area repeater covers the five county Portland Metro Area, including portions

of Benton, Clatsop, Linn, Marion, Polk and Tillamook, counties in Oregon, and portions

Cowlitz, Pacific and Wahkiakum counties in Washington and major portions of Interstate

5 from approximately Milepost 27 near Kalama, Washington to Milepost 209 near

Harrisburg, Oregon.

A special thanks to the Amateur Radio Relay Group Board, and the installation, ground

support, IT and tower crews that included Jim KA7AGH, Albert WB7AWL, Steve

WA7HAA, Kevin KE7K, Warren W7JDT, Joel N7LF, Mike N07RF, Jim N7QME, and

especially Paul K7PN and Josh Thornberg with Custom Metalworks for their tower

installation work and the PNW Digital Network admin team for their behind-the-scenes

support.

This unrestricted open DMR repeater is dedicated for the enjoyment of any licensed

amateur radio operator to use.
